Hi

I am new to the forum having been recommended by my brother who was highly impressed with the help he received for deteriorating performance with his machine! I am hoping with someone's help and patience, I can benefit in the same way.

I have a Dell laptop which has progressively become slower for some time without introducing new software, apart from Window's updates, its literally click and wait!

I have checked for driver updates on the Dell website and implemented where necessary, scanned for viruses with external scanners, checked for adware & malware. Refreshed the operating system from the MS website & run disk checks & hardware analysis, all to no avail.

These are the machine details:

Dell Inspiron 5547

Processor:                         Intel® Core™ i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz   2.40 GHz

Installed RAM:                  8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable)

Operating System:            W1064-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Storage:                            ST1000LM024 HN-M101MBB

Possibly the machine hardware can't handle what W10 has become? Any help greatly appreciated!

The first thing I would do is tap F12 at boot and do a complete hardware diagnostic.

Edit: If you have data on the HDD that is not backed up then back it up first.
