When there are spots on your laptop screen or monitor screen, what do you use to wipe it that is safe to use?  Clorox or Lysol wipes are safe or not?  What about rubbing alcohol on paper towel on toilet paper?

I recalled a while back I used those walfort contact lenses wipes on it and they seem to be fine.  I don't have any of those now but are those the best for these things?  Also what about an iphone or tablet?  I mean in clorox wipes pictures, they do say you can use it to clean electronics but does that mean laptop or monitor screen or iphone or ipad screen?

If you can find some Frosting in your Deep Freeze, melt it on a paper hankie and use that.

1/4 of a drip of washing-up liquid would help, if the screen has fingerprints on it

Hi:

A couple of friendly observations/suggestions:

Even if your device is out of warranty, the User Guide/Owners Manual contains information about proper maintenance, care and cleaning.
Specifics will depend on the type of display.
Methods and cleaners appropriate for one may damage another.

As usual, you are being helped elsewhere:

This topic has nothing to do with Windows 10 OS support. As a general practice, you'll likely get better, faster help here and elsewhere when you post in the correct forum section.

Cheers

You can buy screen cleaner, but I don't like it and the cost is to high.  I use Windex Crystal Rain highly diluted by spraying on a damp microfiber, not to much.  Regular Windex has Ammonia in it and that will melt plastic.  And Zep FAST 505 CLEANER AND DEGREASER the same way.  Just make sure you don't get it into the edges especially draining down to the bottom of the screen, discretion is key.  I've never had a problem using it like this.  I suppose a mild dish detergent like Dawn diluted with distilled water would be very safe.

I saw a young girl washing 35 brand new computer monitors at the public library with Ammonia based cleaner, and told her that it would damage the monitors.  She ignored me and till this day all 35 monitors look horrible, what an idiot!  What kind of fools are we raising these days?  I explained to her what would happen but she didn't care.  I hope she got fired, but I'm sure she did not.  She is probably a Code Writer now.

If I don't reply right away it's because I'm waiting for Windows 10 to Update.

Every month or so I'll spray some eyeglass cleaner that I got from Walmart.

Then I spray some of it on the screen and use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe off the fingerprints and dust.

Works for me over the last 20 years, and none of my monitors ever suffered from it.
