Hello all,

A Java update box has popped up on desktop several times. Each time I attempted to do the update I get the error message "Java Update Failed to Download Required Installation Files."

What can be done to do the Java update without error or disable this message from appearing my desktop?  Please see attachments.

Thanks!

Suggest uninstall what you have in Programs and Features and then download and install from above URL.

Hello Crytodan and Pkshadow,

Thanks for the support! I have uninstalled Java and download and installed the app from the link provided.  I will report back at a later date to see if the problem has been resolved.

Hi, @AZrox:

In addition to the excellent advice already provided, a quick question:

Do you really need Java on your system (perhaps to run some sort of special software)?

Reason for asking: Java has been recognized for more than a decade to entail significant security vulnerabilities. A routine internet search for "Java security vulnerabilities" and "Java security best practices" will turn up many articles about this.
And it's rarely needed these days.

As such, unless it's needed, "best practice" is to uninstall it altogether.

Just a friendly suggestion. :-)

(PS "Java" is NOT the same as "Javascript", although they are often confused.)
