I have twenty 8mm video cassettes that are between 25 and 30 years old. I made them with a Sony TVR handi-cam. The Sony camera doesn't work anymore and I can't find anybody that I can trust to fix it. Same story for my 8mm Sony EV 500 video recorder. Any suggestions as to how would I go about transferring these analog videos to my computer?

You need to consult a service that can do this and then send you the tapes back along with the USB/HDD.

Some local libraries have a digital lab where you can do the conversion yourself.

Thank you for replying.

I don't think it's worth spending $500+ for a used, untested Sony 8mm VCR off the internet. Too many a$$holes just looking for suckers so they can cheat them out of their money.

BTW, I did all that you suggested around 10 years ago and wound up returning everything. So a couple weeks ago I finally put an end to my problem by trashing the camcorder, the Sony 8mm VCR (for which I paid $550 for back in 1991), and all of my 30-year-old 8mm tapes.
