Maybe posting in wrong forum, anyway

Just got a new Orei 1x2 HDMI splitter UHDS-102. It is working fine except for one minor issue. “Almost” every time that I change channel’s on the remote, it takes about 10 seconds to respond. I get a message – No Signal – next line - HDMI 1 cable STB – next line – 1) Check cable connections… -- and then ‘finally’ the selected channel appears. The 'cable' length from cable box to splitter is about 10 feet, even though they are only a few inches apart, if that makes any difference. The TV is "not" a 4K TV. For what its worth, without the splitter, changing channels is instant. The ‘first’ HDMI cable is connected to a 60 inch TV that is about 3 feet away. All cable’s labeled High Speed with Ethernet. The ‘other’ TV is in a different room, of course I don't see this issue "there" since I have to go to the other room to change channel's and when I get back 'all' is good.

Is this normal? Or do I need to get a better splitter? I don’t see any “setup” that I could make, but maybe there is.  If I need a better splitter, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions

Suggest getting a streaming device for tv viewing or get another cable box.

The whole point of getting a spliter was to get rid of a cable box to reduce my costs as I am on a fixed income.  In any event, it appears I have solved my problem, no thanks to 'tech support' at "Orei".  Did a minor TV setup adjustment and the time was cut to about 5 seconds, and the "message" on the screen no longer appears.

Thanks for replying

It is not going to change unless you use a streaming stick for tv on those tvs. Only way to solve this is with a powered splitter.

"Only way to solve this is with a powered splitter."  Don't understand this comment.  The splitter is plugged into a wall socket.

Hi,

I'm not an expert on HDMI (the only thing I use it for is connecting my laptop to monitors/TVs/projectors and that typically works without issue), but somewhere in life I recall hearing complaints about the splitter brand you referenced -- so it may be worth googling around for reviews to find/experiment using a different brand of splitter.

(I don't recall what the complaint was about; only that changing the brand fixed whatever the given problem was for that particular person)

HDMI also supports various versions of HDCP (copy protection technology) and so depending on where the signal you're splitting is coming from, that could cause complications.  Since you're eventually seeing the content on both displays that suggests to me that the signal does not have HDCP enabled (or the splitter is removing it) so I'd recommend giving a different splitter a try and see how the results compare.

Good luck!
