Hi,

This is about a start-up program, but also about its functionality, so if it's in the wrong topic, I apologise.

Am I correct in understanding Windows Filter Agent is used to control internet connections by parent control like software?

And if this is so, what happens if I disable it on start-up? Will it prevent that software from running (a bypass to parental controls?) Will it do any damage? Is it used by other programs for other things that I shouldn't disable it for?

Do you have a link because I can find no documentation on this Windows Filter Agent?

I think it is part of Windows Filtering Platform

Interesting. I read that whole link to Windows Filtering Platform and found no mention of Windows Filter Agent. Where do you see Windows Filter Agent in your settings?

On reading it again, I'm not as sure it is Windows Filtering Platform - I must have misread something when searching up what this was (highlighted)JZ013BL.jpg

reviving for clarity here...

I know on some operating systems they use Netfilter. The wiki page is here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netfilter

coincidentally around this time OP made this thread, there was a report of a root kit that Microsoft signed certificate on. i saw
mention of it https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/appnetfiltersdk-rookit/ec19150b-0948-43bf-93b3-e9385a7353d0
and other places reported on if too.Pcmag, probably here too.

chromeos uses similair API. I've seen the processes named Conntrackd (d for Daemon) on the System before so just fyi to anyone who might need that. Iirc Android may have used it too so... RiP
