Hello.

im not sure about keeping ESET i was planning to keep malwarebytes but if ESET is better then I would make the switch. Computer seems to be running better now no instances where it will crash and I need to hard reboot. So everything looks good, thank you.

It's up to you. Actually, the choice is among Microsoft Defender, the built-in Windows antivirus solution, and Eset. Keep Malwarebytes as an on-demand antimalware, running it every now and then, depending on how often you use your computer.

As to the update error, have you tried to download updates after the FRST fix above?

Let's try an in-place upgrade, and check if this solve your issues with the specific update.

  • Once done downloading the ISO, kindly right-click on ISO then click Mount> then Click Setup.exe
  • You may be prompted by User Account Control. If so, click on Yes.
  • In the Install Windows 11 dialog, click Next.
  • Setup will check your PC and show a license agreement. Click on Accept in the license terms dialog.
  • Wait for the setup program to check for the available free space.
  • On the Ready to install page, make sure Keep personal files and apps has been checked.
  • Then click Install and just follow the prompt.
  • Windows 11 will restart your device several times, and lead you to the lock screen.
  • When the in-place upgrade finishes, check for updates again and let me know what happens.

Went through the process and after it finished it started downloading the update but failed to install it, never got past 0%. Install error - 0x80070643 is the reason listed

Was looking through the addition log to see if I had all the SQL servers needed and saw i was missing 2016, 2017 & 2022. So is it possible that it simply wont install the SQL update as it is not supported on Win11?

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/general/use-sql-server-in-windows

This MS site says Win11 only supports 2017+ and I have 2008-2014 with only 1 2019 installed. Not sure if the issues I'm seeing are due to this at all.

I ran FRST again to capture what was going on so hopefully anything there can provide insight into why after doin the win11 install the SQL update issue still remains

The logs include information about SQL:

Error: (09/23/2023 07:31:23 PM) (Source: MSSQL$TEW_SQLEXPRESS) (EventID: 3417) (User: )
Description: Cannot recover the master database. SQL Server is unable to run. Restore master from a full backup, repair it, or rebuild it. For more information about how to rebuild the master database, see SQL Server Books Online.

Error: (09/23/2023 07:31:23 PM) (Source: MSSQL$TEW_SQLEXPRESS) (EventID: 912) (User: )
Description: Script level upgrade for database 'master' failed because upgrade step 'msdb110_upgrade.sql' encountered error 200, state 7, severity 25. This is a serious error condition which might interfere with regular operation and the database will be taken offline. If the error happened during upgrade of the 'master' database, it will prevent the entire SQL Server instance from starting. Examine the previous errorlog entries for errors, take the appropriate corrective actions and re-start the database so that the script upgrade steps run to completion.

Online there are several articles about rebuilding the master database. For example:

Learn How to Fix Master Database Corruption in SQL Server (sqlserverlogexplorer.com)
Restore the master database (Transact-SQL) - SQL Server | Microsoft Learn

However, this is completely out of my area of knowledge, so I can't guide you into that. Instead, I recommend you to open a new topic at a site which provides assistance on any kind of Windows update issues. The site is Sysnative and you should create an account first. After that, you must follow the instructions here:
Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions | Sysnative Forums

For now, and since the computer is clean, you can enable, if you like, the Sync option on this computer first (this is very important), and then do the following, to reset the restore points and delete the tools we used:

Download KpRm by kernel-panik and save it to your desktop.

  • Right-click kprm_(version).exe and select Run as Administrator.
  • Read and accept the disclaimer.
  • When the tool opens, ensure all boxes under Actions are checked.
  • Under Delete Quarantines select Delete Now, then click Run.
  • Once complete, click OK.
  • A log will open in Notepad titled kprm-(date).txt.
  • Please copy and paste its contents in your next reply.

Let me know if you are going to open a topic at Sysnative. I'll be watching at it.

Don't forget to run KpRm to remove the tools we used and reset the restore points.

Let me know when you are going to post.
