Ugh. IIRC, Comtrend are really cheap, junky modems. Also, this modem only does ADSL2+ up to 24MB/s download speed, which indicates how old and outdated it is. Most people are using newer modems, capable of both VDSL and ADSL with both better sync./negotiation and higher bandwidth/speeds. Nevertheless, unless proven otherwise, it is innocent until proven guilty and should still work fine with a little work. I don't see this as a modem problem. The user is not likely a power user.
In case you don't have a paper copy, here's the specification sheet for that model

I strongly suggest you download it, and print a copy, in case your computer goes down or you lose data at some point.
Anyways, I gleaned from the screenshot, but in future you meant "Windows Networking Troubleshooter". The modem could have a troubleshooter too, thought this bargain model doesn't.
Please take screenshots of your Network adapter properties and IPv4 settings and post them here. Since this modem is only one-port Ethernet, I guess you're only using the one device, your laptop.
What tier of service/speeds are you paying for on your plan, download and upload?
And BTW, if something is enabled in IT, that generally means it is "turned on". Please don't differentiate between the two unless you can show us what you mean or at least where you mean it.
