My PC keeps restarting when I'm not playing a game. Even when I'm using other applications like Adobe Creative Apps or MS 365 apps. I just replaced the PSU about 3-4 months ago and the RAM is about 1.5 years old. Not sure what all I need to provide here this is my first time posting.

The system information summary is provided in the first picture, followed by memory timings, sensor status, and complete log

It may of course be something crashing and causing a restart, but try the simple things first:

Do you by any chance have "Restart this device as soon as possible when a restart is required" turned on in Windows Update advanced options?
If it is that then it should give you 10 minutes warning if it's going to Restart, but there again this is Windows and you might have disabled that warning somehow.

That setting is also tied into your 'Active Hours' so setting those to the maximum 18 hrs a day may help:

Can you post the brand and model name or number of the power supply (PSU).

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

A good quality PSU with sufficient power so only thing to say there is make sure that all modular cables are securly connected to the hardware and the PSU.

Couple of questions;

Operating System
Windows 11 Home 64-bit
Computer type: Desktop
Installation Date: 9/30/2022 9:44:56 AM

Windows 11 is shown to have been installed almost a year ago so how come no drivers or Windows updates were installed until five months later.

What is the brand and model name or number of the RAM and how many sticks do you have.

Just a fyi, there are a couple of things in Speccy that you need to take care of at some point.

Can I ask that you do not quote every reply as we have to read the full post to make sure nothing gets missed,, thanks.

Also not sure about Windows 11

The Speccy stuff we can get back to if needs be but being honest the Windows and system drivers set up is so badly done that I would scrap the lot and start again, we can provide the info that you need to do it properly.

Did you happen to swap the RAM.

First things first then, see my canned info below;

The RAM is not appropriate for your CPU, Intel state here up to 3200MHz and if you have XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC will fall over.

Go into the BIOS, disable XMP and then manually set the RAM to run at 3200MHz and the voltage to 1.35V.

Something to keep in mind for the future, a CPU must be compatible with a MB whereas the RAM has to be compatible with both the CPU and the MB, this because a MB can be compatible with faster CPUs and MB manufacturers often state RAM speeds that far exceed what any CPU the board can handle.

Try the below for now and we can look at manually OCing the RAM later.

Try restoring the MBs default factory settings in the BIOS, they are sometimes listed as one of the following " factory defaults" "most stable" or on newer boards "optimized" please note that if you have both the "most stable" and the "optimized" options in the BIOS you should choose the most stable" option as in this instance the "optimized" settings are a form of overclocking that can cause instability.

Save the new settings, exit the BIOS, restart the computer, test by using the computer as you normally would, post back with an update once you have done this.

I initiated the factory default option, and it appears to be functioning reliably without any unexpected shutdowns or restarts.
